A Resolution

Sunnyview,

Happy New Year! It is time to begin. This is the time of year that people make, with good intentions, New Year’s Resolutions. Unfortunately, there is another part of the year where the resolution seems to fade away. I can hear the comment, “I do not make New Year’s Resolution”, but isn’t that a resolution, to not make a resolution? Resolutions, whatever they may be, need to be in real life rather in wishful thinking.

Many people have committed year after year to lose weight, work harder, or complete some task and each year the resolution is evaluated by how long it took to give up the resolution. Most people view Resolutions in terms of ideal thinking and then nothing changes. What if Resolutions had one filter to determine if it was doable or not? What if our resolutions matched God’s resolution? After all, “There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord” (Proverbs 21:30).

I believe that resolutions are more doable they are teamed with the One who is Lord of heaven and earth. As we begin a New Year, my hope and prayer is that our resolution would be of a single focus, to know Jesus in every aspect of our lives. A resolution of this magnitude would strengthen individuals, encourage families and build a more healthy church; simply because our resolution matches His resolution.

May we all resolve to grow in relationship to our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ, who is able to cleanse us from all unrighteousness and present us Holy and blameless before the Father.

Blessings,

Pastor Jim
